Asset Category / Subcategory management
All FIRE Spark assets can only be associated to a single sub-category; they can not be directly associated to an asset category. And when creating an asset it is a requirement that the asset is associated to a sub-category. This is so the asset is available for selection within tickets, work orders, or other pulldowns in FIRE Spark.
The asset sub-category must in turn only be associated to a single asset category.
Therefore FIRE does not allow for the “nesting” of categories in to multiple levels. There are only two levels available - a category and sub-category.
When creating or administering the category / sub-category setup in FIRE Spark, the following rules are important:
- The category must be created first
- During setup of a category, the “Parent Category” should be set to “is parent”
- The sub-category is set up second
- During setup of a sub-category, the appropriate category should be selected as the “Parent Company”
- multiple sub-categories can be associate to a single category; i.e., use the same “Parent Company” selection
The page in FIRE Spark which allows for the administration of category and sub-categories is under the
- Equipment → Assets & Inventory menu
- Admin tab on the top right of the screen
- Asset tab on the top left of the screen
- Asset categories tab
