 This section provides details on Asset management within FIRE Spark. This section provides details on Asset management within FIRE Spark.

-It includes:+====== Category / Subcategory ======
 +All FIRE Spark assets can only be associated to a single sub-category; they can not be directly associated to an asset category.  And when creating an asset it is a requirement that the asset is associated to a sub-category.  This is so the asset is available for selection within tickets, work orders, or other pulldowns in FIRE Spark.

-  * [[:assets:category|category / subcategory creation and management]] +The asset sub-category must in turn only be associated to a single asset category.
-  * [[:assets:creation|asset creation]] +
-  * [[:assets:pricebook|association to pricebook charges]]+Therefore FIRE does not allow for the "nesting" of categories in to multiple levels.  There are only two levels available - a category and sub-category.
 +
 +When creating or administering the category / sub-category setup in FIRE Spark, the following rules are important:
 +
 +  - The category must be created first
 +    - During setup of a category, the "Parent Category" should be set to "is parent"
 +  - The sub-category is set up second
 +    - During setup of a sub-category, the appropriate category should be selected as the "Parent Company"
 +    - multiple sub-categories can be associate to a single category; i.e., use the same "Parent Company" selection
 +
 +The page in FIRE Spark which allows for the administration of category and sub-categories is:
 +  * **Equipment -> Assets & Inventory** menu
 +    * **Admin** tab on the top right of the screen
 +      * **Asset** tab on the top left of the screen
 +        * **Asset categories** tab

 +
 +====== Asset creation ======
 +
 +====== Pricebook association ======
 +Assets can be associated to pricebook charges for a number of reasons:
 +  * Makes it easier to select assets by selecting them on the charges tab of a ticket
 +  * Ties the revenue of a charge directly to an asset; allowing for revenue per asset reports
 +
 +There are two ways that an asset can be associated to a pricebook charge in FIRE Spark
 +  - Associating the individual asset to a charge
 +  - Associating an asset sub-category to a charge; thereby associating all assets in that sub-category to the charge
 +
 +The page in FIRE Spark which allows for the association of sub-categories to pricebook charge(s) is:
 +  * **Equipment -> Assets & Inventory** menu
 +    * **Admin** tab on the top right of the screen
 +      * **Asset** tab on the top left of the screen
 +        * **Asset categories** tab
 +          * Edit an **Asset sub-category** record
 +            * Under the **Pricebook Charges** section
 +
 +The **Pricebook charges** section under the asset category admin allows for the selection of one or more charges from the price book.
 +
 +The equivalent of this selection can also be found in each individual asset record.  However, it is much easier and more efficient to associate the entire asset sub-category to a charge, and in this way all assets under this sub-category will inherently also be associated to the charge(s).
 +
 +Note that if assets are added to the sub-category AFTER the charge association is made to the sub-category, or new assets are created that are put in the sub-category, then these assets will automatically be tied to the charge(s) of the sub-category as well.
